Nom Festive Vegan Hot Chocolate

Our favourite festive ingredient here at nom has got to be cinnamon – its spicy warmth is perfect for the cold winter months!

Not only is it a delicious addition to any sweet creation, this ingredient also has some added benefits! Cinnamon has been found to be high in antioxidants, fibre, and have blood-sugar lowering properties. So, what better reason to try out our festive, vegan, hot chocolate recipe?

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 heaped tsp of Cacao powder
  • Half a bar of your favourite vegan chocolate
  • 2 teaspoons of Maple syrup
  • Milk of choice (we used almond)
  • Cinnamon
  • Canned Coconut milk (Refrigerated overnight)
  • Nom Cinnamon Maple Popcorn

 

Start by melting your chosen chocolate

Next, mix together your hot chocolate paste, using the cacao powder, maple syrup and cinnamon– if it’s too thick, add a small amount of your chosen milk.

Gently heat your milk in a saucepan or in the microwave.

Once warm, add the milk in small amount to your chocolate paste whilst whisking (the more you whisk, the frothier the hot chocolate!)

Topping:

Take your can of refrigerated coconut milk and whisk vigorously until it has a whipped-cream-like texture.

Spoon some of your whipped “cream” on to your hot chocolate and top with cinnamon maple popcorn.

Sprinkle with a little bit more cinnamon and there you have it! The perfect winter treat to keep you cosy!
